Eyre Peninsula Water Security Long Term Plan

Project Overview

The Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management Board and SA Water are working with the local community to plan a secure water future for Eyre Peninsula.

A number of initiatives are currently underway to address water management and infrastructure planning for the Eyre Peninsula, following the South Australian Government’s Eyre Peninsula Water Summit held in March 2007.

SA Water will be preparing a new Long Term Plan that will consider combined water management and supply options to meet projected demand over a 20 to 25 year period. The Eyre Peninsula Natural Resources Management Board will assist in this process by providing information relating to the current status of the water resources and supporting the community consultation process currently underway to ensure all issues and opportunities are adequately explored.

Meeting Future Demand

SA Water’s Long Term Plan for Eyre Region

Meeting Future Demand – SA Water’s Long Term Plan for Eyre Region is an initiative of the South Australian Government, through SA Water, to ensure Eyre Peninsula has a secure water supply to meet potential increases in demand for the next 25 years.

The Long Term Plan for Eyre Region aims to identify sustainable initiatives that can complement a continued emphasis on water conservation and demand management while enabling the region to grow and develop with water security.

Three draft documents have been prepared for public review:

  • A succinct, easy to read summary of SA Water’s draft Long Term Plan for Eyre Region which summarises the key recommendations contained in SA Water’s Long Term Plan for Eyre Region
  • SA Water’s draft Long Term Plan for Eyre Region which is the main technical report that contains the detailed analysis and technical assessment for all options considered
  • A Community Response Report that documents all issues raised throughout the community engagement process for consideration by Government Agencies and the Office for Water Security providing a vehicle for the community to express their comments on SA Water’s draft Long Term Plan for Eyre Region.
Your feedback is now invited on the above documents. All comments, suggestions and further ideas received will be considered in finalising SA Water’s Long Term Plan for Eyre Region.
