Linking NRM and the Eyre Peninsula community

The NRM Groups, who draw their experience and skills from the local community, are working to improve the linkage between the EPNRM Board and local communities across the region. Group members are local residents with skills and experience in NRM who facilitate local input into regional programs.

A critical part of the Board’s purpose is to provide information to the Minister about natural resource management issues on Eyre Peninsula. The Groups and their ability to access local information are fundamental to the Board’s work.

Key activities of the 4 NRM Groups are:

Actively involved in the development and implementation of the NRM Plan at a local level;
Develop, implement and/or participate in NRM programs at a local level;
Promote public awareness of the importance of integrated and sustainable natural resources management within the Group area and undertake or support educational initiatives with respect to NRM;
Provide advice to the EPNRM Board and other agencies with respect to the assessment of various activities, proposals, situations or circumstances;
Where relevant, work collaboratively with the other NRM Groups, councils, relevant industry environment and community groups and organisations.
