Education

What is Education for Sustainability?

Education for Sustainability develops skills, knowledge and values that promote behaviour in support of a sustainable environment.

You may also hear Education for Sustainability referred to as Sustainability Education, Environmental Education for Sustainability, Education for Sustainable Development, Learning for Sustainability, and Natural Resources Management (NRM) Education.

There has been a recent move away from ‘environmental education’ towards ‘Education for Sustainability’. This move reflects a growing awareness that nature-based activities and awareness raising alone cannot bring about a shift towards a sustainable future, as they fail to integrate social, economic and political issues and their interrelationships.

        • Habitat
        • Habitat fragmentation
        • Introduced species - feral foes
