What is Education for Sustainability?
Education for Sustainability develops skills, knowledge and values that promote behaviour in support of a sustainable environment.
You may also hear Education for Sustainability referred to as Sustainability Education, Environmental Education for Sustainability, Education for Sustainable Development, Learning for Sustainability, and Natural Resources Management (NRM) Education.
There has been a recent move away from ‘environmental education’ towards ‘Education for Sustainability’. This move reflects a growing awareness that nature-based activities and awareness raising alone cannot bring about a shift towards a sustainable future, as they fail to integrate social, economic and political issues and their interrelationships.

Sustainability Education on Eyre Peninsula
The Eyre Peninsula NRM Board supports sustainability education on Eyre Peninsula with a variety of activities including:
Water Resources Community Awareness and Education Program
The Eyre Peninsula Water Resources Community Awareness and Education Program supports sustainability education activities across Eyre Peninsula, with a focus on water resources. Some assistance can also be provided to schools interested in biodiversity, coast and marine, and other natural resource issues. Our natural resources are interrelated, so it makes sense to approach them in an integrated way.
